Project Brief

The project comprises the construction of deep interceptor trunk/main sewers for diversion of flow from pumping stations PS 31, PS 5, PS 4, Diwan Amiri and Ministry of Interior (MOI). The interceptor sewer commences at pumping station PS 31 runs along Al Jazeera Street crossing Al Khaleej Street to run along Al Ahmadi Street towards Al Firdows Street then northwards along Muslim Bin Aqeel Street eastwards along Palestine Street then northwards to Rayyan Road where it enters the land allocated for the New Grand Doha Park. The sewer trunk then continues in the North - Eastern direction parallel to Majles - Al- Taawon Street inside New Grand Doha Park until it intersects with the proposed sewer main running along Mohammed Bin Thani Street from pumping Station PS 15/1 and continues along the Majles - Al- Taawon Street to discharge into the exiting Manhole N25/18 near the Ludaihi (Orxy) Roundabout.

The Works comprise the following:

• Construction of new 1200mm diameter Interceptor Sewer and manholes from PS 31 and PS 5 to a manhole on new PS 25 trunk sewer network at Ludaihi (Orxy) roundabout using Non-Disruptive construction method techniques.
• Construction of new 800mm diameter main sewer and manholes along Mohammed Bin Thani Street from PS 15/1 (near Civil Defense roundabout) to connect to the above interceptor sewer near Wadi Al Sail roundabout using Non-Disruptive construction methods.
• Construction of 200mm diameter to 400mm diameter sewers and manholes along the route to integrate and make connections with the existing sewers and manholes using non-disruptive and/or open construction methods. The flows discharging from Diwan Amiri pumping Station, Ministry of Interior (MOI) pumping station, Al Bidaa Park, National Theater, Civil Defense and Ministry of Defense have been intercepted and diverted to the 800mm diameter / 1200mm diameter interceptor sewer.
• Connecting the existing upstream network at PS 4, PS 5 and PS 15/1 with the new interceptor sewer to enable abandonment of the pumping stations.
• Connecting the existing upstream network at PS 31 with the new interceptor sewer by constructing a Flow Diversion Chambers for operational flexibility.
• Abandonment of specific existing sewers.
• Abandonment of specific existing manholes.
• Abandonment of specific existing house connections and construction of new property connections as instructed by the Engineer at site.

The following scope of works shall were carried out only after obtaining approval from the O & M department and the Engineer:

• Decommissioning and abandonment of existing pumping station PS 15/1.
• Decommissioning and abandonment of existing pumping station PS 5.
• Decommissioning and abandonment of existing pumping station PS 4
